The 2026 NYSCAA Annual Conference will feature two announced keynote speakers: Allan Kehler and Chelsea Ambrose. Allan will present Find Your Voice. Find Your Power, and Chelsea will present Uncovering Resilience. Both presentations connect directly to this year’s theme, Resilient by Nature: The Power of Community Action, with a focus on resilience, leadership, wellness, organizational culture, and the people-centered work of Community Action.

A licensed clinical social worker and resilience strategist, Chelsea brings trauma-informed, strengths-based leadership insight to organizations working through change, pressure, and complex human service demands.

The 2026 NYSCAA Annual Conference is listed as September 16-18, 2026. Tuesday, September 15 is planned primarily for early registration/check-in, a NYSCAA Board of Directors meeting, and an optional happy hour meet-up. Our conference begins Wednesday morning and continues through Friday morning.
The preliminary agenda includes keynote presentations from Allan Kehler and Chelsea Ambrose, meals, concurrent sessions, a reception, ELI-related programming, and closing remarks. Session topics, presenters, room assignments, and final timing are still being finalized and are subject to change. NYSCAA will continue to update this page as additional details are confirmed.

Conference registration does not reserve your hotel room
Completing conference registration does not reserve a hotel room. Hotel rooms must be booked separately through the NYSCAA room block at the Sheraton Niagara Falls.
The conference is listed as September 16–18, 2026, but Tuesday, September 15 is planned as early registration/check-in only. The core conference program is expected to run Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning. Please book hotel nights based on your travel needs.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing by Monday, August 31, 2026. Approved cancellations will be refunded less a $50 administrative fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests received after August 31, 2026, or for no-shows. Substitutions may be permitted when requested in writing.

NYSCAA is offering both ELI 1.0 and ELI 2.0 for 2026 due to continued agency interest in Emerging Leaders Institute participation. Please review the registration guidance below before completing a conference registration.

Conference registration is included
The ELI 1.0 participation cost includes registration for the 2026 NYSCAA Annual Conference. Confirmed ELI 1.0 participants do not need to complete a separate conference registration for themselves.
ELI 2.0
Conference registration is required
There is no charge for ELI 2.0 participation; however, ELI 2.0 participants are expected to attend the conference and must register and pay for the conference through the NYSCAA website.

The 2026 Community Action Awards are an opportunity to recognize the stories, leadership, collaboration, innovation, and lasting impact happening throughout New York’s Community Action Network. Awardees will be recognized during the 2026 NYSCAA Annual Professional Development Conference.

Community Action Personal Achievement Award
This award recognizes a current or former Community Action participant or customer whose personal journey shows perseverance, growth, achievement, and commitment to helping themselves and others.
Note: This award is not intended for staff persons. The awardee will be reimbursed up to $300 for expenses related to attending the conference to accept their award, compliments of NYSCAA.
Impact
Community Action Impact Award
This award recognizes an individual, agency, or department whose leadership, collaboration, innovation, or broader Network contributions have created meaningful and lasting change.
Eligibility note: Individual nominees must be employed for a minimum of three years by a Community Action Agency.
